The 12-year-old single malt, gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt ~ the traditional casks soften and adds to the character, whilst the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor.
Based on it’s tasting notes that we’ve discovered and tasted so far, ladies would love it as much as men do. Why? The nose is pretty inviting with vanilla and nuts sweet and with a little vanilla scent. It’s a plus point for people who loves something fruity yet resonant with deeper notes.
However, for those who usually opt for peatier drams, the complexity of The Balvenie is rich enough for people who need a stronger palate and it has a smoother as well as gentler note that gives a different touch for regular scotch drinker; especially men; they’ll pick it for its complexity.
Besides, this dram is quality and complexity and simplicity achieved at a great price point, if you’re a serious Scotch drinker The Balvenie is definitely a go.
We strongly believe it is a wonderful 12 year old, and you won’t find many 12’s that can come close to this at such affordable price. It is quintessential daily dram for a drinker with a modest to above average budget.
