In celebration of this year’s annual Tour de France, Chilean wine marque Cono Sur has released a special limited edition bottling into its Bicicleta wines. Called the Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir, it features a vintage-styled label design themed on the famed bicycling tournament.
According to Cono Sur, the special label design was drawn out by cycling artist Eliza Southwood. It was inspired by five-time Tour de France winner Miguel Indurain and caries the “unites the wines and riders in 2017” theme, the company said.
The artwork, titled “Inspired by Greatness”, was inspired by the cyclist Indurain’s historic ride to claim the coveted yellow jersey for the first time by overtaking rivals in the mountainous passes of Pourtalet, Aubisque, Tourmalet, Aspin and Val Louron on the 13th Stage of Le Tour de France in 1991.
The Cono Sur Bicicleta Pinot Noir limited edition Tour de France bottling will be available for purchase starting mid-June onwards. Additionally, the full Bicicleta range from the renowned Chilean wine house includes a Viognier, Chardonnay, Merlot and Carmenère, Carbernet Sauvignon, as well as the Pinot Noir and other varieties.
