One of the planet’s leading distillers of fine single-malt scotch whisky Glenfiddich just launched an interactive virtually reality (or VR in short) experience called ‘Glenfiddich Virtual Infinity’.
Introduced during the recent TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore, the Glenfiddich Virtual Infinity experience was developed by Purple Interactive to specifically promote the Speyside-based distiller’s Cask Collection – the brand’s travel retail-exclusive range of whiskies (pictured above).
Prior to putting on their VR headsets, shoppers will take part in a guided tasting first, picking out nosing and tasting notes. After which, the Glenfiddich Virtual Infinity experience then gives shoppers a glimpse of the three Solera blending vats used in Cask Collection production virtually.
An additional hard controller is also present to compliment the VR headset, allowing shoppers to select a vat and “enter the world” of that expression. This also grants shoppers the ability to “write” their tasting notes in the virtual reality vat and walk through their 3D words.
“VR is allowing us to interact with people in a whole new way, and the beautiful imagery that Purple created for this project means that whisky drinkers can express their tasting notes in a completely individual fashion, and in a completely new medium,” said Glenfiddich’s global brand manager Coralie Vial.
The Glenfiddich Virtual Infinity experience is slated to roll out at selected airports worldwide starting June this year. If you happen to be travelling around said time, we’re sure this is an experience any whisky fan wouldn’t want to miss.
